In fact, affordability concerns are prompting 60.1% of homebuyers to look outside metro areas—up from 48.2% before the pandemic. In pricier markets, more than 90% are exploring options elsewhere. What’s also notable: out-of-market buyers are showing increased interest in new homes across more affordable Southern regions.
